Our Vision

To be the leading voice on the Human Resource Management practice by providing a platform to strengthen the capabilities of our members as we continue to create value in the profession both domestically and globally

Our Mission

HRMATT will be the champion of the Human Resources discipline in Trinidad and Tobago by creating and maintaining high standards for the profession through strategic development of organizations and people


  • To enhance and facilitate the professional development of its members.
  • To develop and ensure appropriate standards of excellence in the practice of Human Resource Management (HRM) in Trinidad and Tobago.
  • To foster the acceptance and recognition of HRM as an integral part of management practice and decision making in the society at large and in public and private enterprise.
  • To provide a vehicle for establishing linkages with local and international associations with similar and/ or related objectives.
  • To provide the impetus for research into issues affecting HRM in Trinidad and Tobago and provide opportunities for discussion communication and/ or publication of useful research data and other information affecting HRM.
  • To serve as a clearinghouse for matters and issues pertaining to HRM.
  • To provide opportunities for networking among members.
  • To do all such things as may be necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives (or any of them).

Achieving our goals in 2016

HRMATT has held eight (8) Conferences to date:

  • Workforce of the Future – The Challenge Now (1993)
    Making Sense of Transformation: The Role of the Human Resource Manager (1995)
  • HR Beyond 2000: A Changing Profession for a Changing World (1999)
  • Who Moved My People? Mastering Corporate Leadership (2001)
  • The Art of HRM-Linking People, Strategies and Profits (2003)
  • HRM without Boundaries – Managing people resources in a Single Market Economy (2005)
  • Building world-class organisations… Unlocking the Human potential (2007)

Additionally, HRMATT has hosted several seminars and workshops in order to facilitate the sharing of information and ideas on topical issues as they pertain to the role and function of the Human Resource Manager

Looking Forward

HRMATT is a vehicle for the institutionalisation of Human Resource Management as a profession in Trinidad and Tobago, and for the realisation of the goals of designing new organisation and management systems and practices that motivate rather than inhibit the participation and effectiveness of the human resource.

HRMATT aims to develop and ensure appropriate standards of excellence in the practice of HR Management and will do so by continually involving its members in shaping the unfolding of this dynamic field
